LIES, SCHEMES AND STRATEGIES

When I gaze into the night sky as the sun begins to set I see colors so vibrant that the photographs I take do not do it justice.  The oranges, the reds, the purples, the blues it is just breathtaking.  I stare into the lake we live on and see the water looks just like glass.  Not a ripple anywhere, even the fish are still.  Birds begin the sing a sweet lullaby as all the squirrels and chipmunks scurry to their hideaways for a night of rest.  Peace reigns over the lake. That is until the roar of a rouge jet ski pierces the peaceful silence of a summer night.  Really?  Seriously?  It's late at night and jet skis aren't allowed after dusk so what is he doing out there with no lights on?  He's stirring up trouble.  Just like always trying to destroy the peace and tranquility I seek.

Isn't that the way life is?  We finally get to where we think we want to be and someone or something throws a monkey wrench into our plans.  Our comfort zone has been invaded, our peace has been removed and nothing feels right anymore.  We begin to question God,  instead of focusing on what He may be trying to grow in us, we doubt, we fear, we blame, we point fingers.  Fear does that and fear is not from God!  We may not want to face the reality that God is trying to get us to step up and look in the mirror, after all it's much easier to see the faults of others instead of looking at ourselves.  We assume God will always bless us yet there are many times He tries to convict us and get us to take an honest look at ourselves.  Trust me it's not easy but it's necessary.

Stirring up trouble is what the enemy loves to do.  Controversy and doubt just fuel his fire and we fall victim to it all the time, especially if we're so focused on what we see and hear and not on God.  The truth is scary to our enemy because he knows the truth only leads to Jesus Christ.  He doesn't want us to face the truth about ourselves and it scares the heck out of him if we face the truth about who God is and he is deeply threatened when we start to believe in Jesus Christ.  He wants us distracted and focused on him instead of God.  Way too many believers focus on the work of the enemy.  Just watch the news and you'll get a good look at the lies and schemes and strategies of the enemy, TV is filled with that garbage.

The thing is if we continue to focus on the enemy we lose focus of God because for me it doesn't matter what the enemy is trying to do to me because Jesus Christ already defeated the enemy for me.  Oh don't get me wrong we cannot forget about or ignore the enemy, we need to realize it's him attacking us but if we focus too much on what the enemy is doing in our churches, in our homes, in our marriages, in our schools and so on, we will lose focus of the miraculous works God is doing.  For example; I have a prayer warrior friend whose sister has been in a state of coma for a long time after her heart attack.  The lies of the enemy kept saying, it's hopeless, she'll never wake up.  The doctors didn't hold much hope, yet we kept praying and believing and this weekend, she woke up.  The enemy lost that battle!

Trust me it's easier to believe the lies and it is to accept the truth.  The truth is simple but somehow easy to ignore or push aside because we don't want to believe the truth that God loves us so much that He sent His only Son, Jesus Christ, to die for us.  It's unbelievable for us because in our human logic it just seems impossible.  Well, it's true!  No matter how impossible it is to believe it's true!!  The enemy has been defeated!  Focus on God and what He has already done for us and leave the enemy where he belongs, crawling in the dirt!!
